In the beginning of the song Adam paints this depressed, and sad picture of how lonely he felt in his basement on a cold Minnesota winter night. The song Be Brave is about the time Adam Young met his girlfriend, and how it changed his life. The song creeps back in and the piano keeps building to this epic moment in the end with this powerful moment filled with heavy sounding chords from a hundred different guitars, Adam singing a high note, and the piano getting to it's most intense moment yet, until it finally goes back to it's vulnerable state, hopefully leaving you with a sense of wonder and confoundment. This song is distinct from Adam's past work as it is mostly a piano solo based song that keeps building to a moment where these unexpected guitars appear for a moment, and leave, with all the instruments fading out. It was released with the rest of the Reels, and some songs that weren't included in those Reels like House Wren and Winners Never Quit. This song was released apart from Reel 3 on June 1, 2018. The Acoustic version mostly contains Adam's vocals and a piano, with some added echo and quiet electronic melodies. An acoustic version of the same song was posted to YouTube on April 18, 2018.
